The short version: your photos never leave your device. ExifView was designed so that the sensitive thing — your files and the location data inside them — physically cannot be collected, because it is never transmitted. The longer version covers the data the site itself touches.

Your files are parsed locally

The viewer is JavaScript running in your browser tab. When you drop a photo in, the browser reads it from your disk, walks its byte structure, decodes the metadata and draws the report — all locally. You can verify this: load the page, disconnect from the internet, and the viewer keeps working. There is no upload endpoint, no processing queue, no server that ever sees your image.

One deliberate exception: if GPS coordinates are found, the report offers an OpenStreetMap link. If you click it, the latitude and longitude travel in that link’s URL — that’s your choice, made per-file, and nothing else is sent anywhere.

Server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. When your browser fetches a page, Cloudflare processes standard request metadata — IP address, user agent, timestamp, requested URL — to deliver content, protect against abuse and measure aggregate traffic. There are no accounts and no forms that store data, so there is nothing to combine these logs with.

Advertising and cookies

If advertising is enabled on this site, it is served by third-party networks such as Google AdSense. Ad networks may set cookies or similar identifiers to measure impressions and — where permitted — personalize ads. You can opt out of personalized ads via Google’s Ads Settings or a browser that blocks third-party cookies. The viewer works identically whether or not ads load.

Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting aggregate analytics (no cross-site tracking, no personal profiles) to see which pages are used. File names, photo contents and metadata values are never included — that data never reaches the network at all.

Your choices

• Reading the site works with JavaScript disabled; only the viewer needs it.
• Cookie and ad personalization preferences are controlled by your browser settings.
